National Debt - September 7th, 2009

Going to the bus stop early in the morning is always an interesting adventure. Some people there are still not awake I think, they’re eyes seems still glazed over from the long night I guess or they didn’t sleep at all and are looking forward to it at work. I get to talk to different people on their way of work and a lot of the time the topic falls into what is going on in the economy. Some think it is going to get better now and the worst part is over, others think we are just starting to head down the road to fixing all the bad decisions that government and people have been making the past few decades.

All the accumulated debt needs to be accounted for but so far all that seems to be happening is going into more debt, massive bail outs with money borrowed from the Federal Reserve. How do we pay that money back is their ending question just as we get to their stop and they get off. Maybe we don’t know the answer yet and we’ll just have to wait and see which way things go, but what ever it is I’m sure people will still be talking about it and from all sides of the issue.

Learning About Finances - September 2nd, 2009

Everyone isn’t born with a famous economist teaching them how to invest. Your childhood is more than likely riddled financially with neglect in many areas. So we have to work extra hard and learn all the things an expert in the field would have taught us. Proper financial education is worth the time and money because without knowing what we want to do and how to do it, we seldom get the results we are looking for.

So a good place to start may be to decide what it is we want. Make a written list and then put the list in order of what is most important first. Then “start” the plan that will make it happen. If your learning has to start from the very beginning, start there, don’t try to jump ahead into the expert class if you are a beginner. If you are familiar with leading edge information about making money then start there, but in any case make sure it is what you want and that you have the time set aside to do it.
